a radical 6-week journey designed to help you immerse yourself in a hobby you love or have always wanted to try.
It's time to break from the daily grind and spend some time laboring for the love of it.
The Labor of Love Challenge is a unique opportunity to dedicate 6 weeks to a hobby or passion project of your choice.
Whether it's painting, gardening, woodworking, knitting, writing, or anything in between, this challenge is all about focusing on what brings you happiness and pride.
Weekly Love Notes
Each week I'll send you a short video reflection from my own labor right into your inbox with invitations to ponder your labor further and also any friction arising as a result.
Community Support
The challenge is hosted on my course site and each week under the video reflection from me will be a community discussion board so you can engage with folks more deeply should you choose.
Rediscover Joy
Most of us work too much. This challenge will require you to pull time from somewhere else in your life. I encourage you try to pull it from work time as much as you can!
How it works:
- Choose your labor of love: pick a hobby or passion project that excites you. It could be something you’re already into or something new you’ve always wanted to try.
- Set Your Goals: Define what you want to achieve in six weeks. Whether it’s mastering a new skill, completing a project, or simply enjoying the process, set clear and achievable goals.
- Join the Community: Each week there will be a community discussion board prompt. This is a great opportunity to connect with likeminded folks doing the same tings you are.
- Commit to the Challenge: Dedicate time each week to your chosen hobby. Share your progress, celebrate your successes, and seek encouragement from fellow folks.
- Reflect and Celebrate: At the end of the six weeks, reflect on your journey, celebrate your achievements, and take pride in the time you’ve invested in yourself.

Hey! 👋 I'm Emily.
I come to you as an anti-capitalist business coach, activist, Marxist, socialist-vibing facilitator, carpenter, and mother.
I believe in a post-capitalist world that prioritizes people (and the planet) over profit. My mission is to give you - radical small business owner - strength, permission, and know-how to design a business that generates social and ecological value with and without financial return.
During these 6 weeks I have chosen to learn how to make a quilt and to write a tiny book about voting third party. You can learn more about my motivations for the creating this challenge and the two labors I'll be working on during my time in the intro video of the challenge!
